Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel feels happy with RB9 – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he is feeling happy with RB9 at the end of the first day of the second pre-season test in Barcelona.
Vettel set the fourth fastest time on the first day of the second test and expressed that they have managed to get some valuable amount of information which will certainly help in making further advancements in the car. However, he avoided making any kind
of judgement about their position in this year’s championship at this point in time.
“This circuit has always been a good indicator of whether you have a good car or not,” Vettel said, “but at this stage it's still very difficult to judge what we do compared to the rest.”
It will be important to note that the Milton Keynes based squad struggled a lot during the last year’s pre-season testing programme as they failed to create complete understanding about RB8 because of the changes in the rules and regulations by FIA and especially
due to the ban on the use of double diffuser.
Nevertheless, the chief technical officer of Red Bull, Adrian Newey kept on working hard and successfully developed the most competitive car with which the veteran German driver performed remarkably well during the last few grands prix and successfully claimed
his third consecutive championship title.
The 25-year-old had an intense competition with Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who fought extremely well right until the end of the season. Nonetheless, he delivered an exceptional performance in the season finale held at Interlagos Brazil and claimed by title
by just 3 points from Alonso.
The triple-world champion has said that they have developed a very good car for the 2013 Formula 1 season as compared to preceding year. He also said that he is feeling very happy with the balance of his car and is looking forward to perform well in this
season as well.
“I think we improved the car a lot last season though so I'm much happier this year here than I was last time,” he added. “I think we have been in good shape today. I'm quite happy with the car and the balance, and quite a bit happier than how we started
last year.”
