Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel happy with his car for British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
The reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel has said that he is happy with his RB7 after the first two free practice sessions for the 2011 Formula 1 British Grand Prix.
Vettel admitted that the pace difference as a result of the ban on the Blown Diffusers was not quite evident due to the wet conditions throughout both of the free practice sessions.
Vettel complimented the team for its work as his car was very well balanced for Silverstone and he enjoyed its feel a lot.
“The circuit was changing a lot today, so it was hard to find out too much and understand the effect of the changes introduced this weekend, but we will learn more tomorrow. I was happy with the car today and the balance, even in these conditions,” he said.
According to the officials, the off-throttle Blown Diffusers have been banned starting from the British Grand Prix and now, it is believed that the Red Bull Racing team will lose around 5 tenths of a second from its pace which means that McLaren and Ferrari
are now pretty much on equal terms with them.
However, the rain became a major obstruction in evaluating this pace change during the practice sessions this past Friday as a result of which, both McLaren and Ferrari were unable to set up their cars accordingly for the rest of the weekend.
Vettel on the other hand is happy with his car setup but if the conditions change during both the qualifying session and race, then this setup would become useless for Red Bull.
Other than that, the current championship leader revealed that he has changed his helmet design yet again for this weekend.
“I have all the pit crew on my helmet at this year's race, their local race, to say thank you for all their hard work,” said Vettel.
Nevertheless, the qualifying session of the British Grand Prix is going to be very important and since the conditions are still going to be quite unpredictable for this weekend, it seems that luck is also going to play a major part.
