Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel not pleased with German Grand Prix show – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has expressed his disappointment at finishing fourth in his home event, the 2011 Formula 1 German Grand Prix.
“Of course it's not satisfying. But I think we have to accept today that other people were quicker than us. As I said surely I'm not happy, not satisfied, so I want to come back next time but for now I think they (McLaren and Ferrari) have been working very
hard and improved their cars,” Vettel told the media.
Vettel was unable to score good results throughout the weekend as his performance during the practice sessions, qualifying and even the race was quite disappointing. The reigning world champion qualified in 3rd place after which his track position
during the race deteriorated and he fell back in 5th place.
Felipe Massa kept the current championship leader behind him for around 15 laps after which both of the drivers had to pit in the very last lap.
Unfortunately, Ferrari lost the ‘pit race’ and Vettel secured the 4th place quite comfortably. However, one has to admit that the RBR driver was having a tough time at the Nurburgring while his teammate Mark Webber was scoring some pretty good
results.
“We need to make sure that we come back and I didn't feel very good all weekend, never got to the pace probably that Mark had in the car and I struggled to keep up three or four laps after the warm up stage is over to keep up with the top two or three cars,”
said the reigning world champion.
However, he added that the race did end on a high for him when he finished ahead of Massa in 4th place but since Webber, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, who are his closest rivals in the championship finished on the podium as a result of which,
his lead in the drivers’ standings has reduced.
Vettel is still leading the championship with 216 points though and if he keeps scoring points consistently like this, he will surely win the title until the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
