Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel says he respects his teammate Mark Webber – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel says that he respects his teammate Mark Webber.
He expressed his views after Webber renewed his deal for one year with his team.
Vettel believes that although they had somewhat cold relations in the past but they still have respect for each other and they make a good team together.
The veteran German driver said that they have a competition only when it comes to racing in which they try to get ahead of each other. However, such competition is limited to the circuit only and people are conceiving the issue in a wrong manner. He also
said that the team is happy with their performances and so are they.
“I'm happy to hear [Webber's re-signed], we get along quite well with each other. Obviously we might not be best friends but that's not a disaster. I think people always put it in a very wrong light, I think we respect each other very much ; I feel respect
from his side and I respect Mark. So I think it's good for the team, we work well together; they know us so it's good.” he said.
He added, “He's not happy if I'm ahead, I'm not happy if he's ahead, it's as simple as that. I think in a way that's how it should be.”
The Australian driver joined Red Bull in 2007 and has performed quite well for his team. Additionally, in the first four grands prix of the current season, he showed consistent performances and is on the second position in the drivers’ championship with
116 points. Besides, he is only 13 points behind Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Contrarily, the two-time world champion Vettel has not been able to show consistent performances in the current season. Although, he attained the pole position in the European GP but he retired in that race. Later in the British GP, he was able to make it
to the podium and stood 3rd. Until now, he has been able to score 100 points and is at the third position in the drivers’ standings.
