Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel wins 2011 Italian Grand Prix at Monza – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver won the 2011 Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the Monza racetrack.
After the Friday Free Practice sessions and qualifying round, all the teams participated in the Italian race weekend. The drivers used the sets of soft and medium tyres by Pirelli during Sunday’s race under dry conditions.
The current championship-leading driver, Vettel won the race for the eighth time in the 2011 Formula 1 season at the Italian Grand Prix. The German was the fastest in Monza race and finished his Grand Prix at the top position.
The current world champion was closely followed by McLaren driver Jenson Button, who had a gap of 9.590 seconds from Vettel. After struggling on the sets of medium and soft tyres, the Brit ended up at the second place at Monza racetrack.
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso had a good stint in the race and after putting all of his efforts during the Grand Prix, he came at the last stair of the podium in the final race classifications.
Lewis Hamilton tried his best to finish his race on podium for McLaren in Italy, but Button and Alonso were faster as compared to him and he completed his run at the fourth place in the end.
Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher took a good start in the race. He was in the third position in the initial 21 laps of the 53-lap race. After taking his first pitstop, he rejoined the racetrack from the fifth position on the grid. He was involved for
over 20 laps in a battle with Lewis Hamilton and did not allow him to overtake him. However, Hamilton finally overtook him on medium compounds and Schumacher finished in fifth position.
Massa claimed sixth position for Ferrari in the 2011 Italian Grand Prix at the Monza racetrack.
Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari had a good raceday in Italy. After starting his Grand Prix from the 18th position on the grid, he ended up in the seventh spot after using soft and medium tyres at Monza.
Paul di Resta was again impressive during the race in the ongoing season after the 2011 Hungarian race weekend. He put Force India at the eighth place ahead of Renault driver Bruno Senna, who finished his Italian Grand Prix at the ninth position.
Renault were happy with Senna’s performance in the Monza race, as he managed a good finish in the Italian race weekend for them.
Sebastien Buemi took the 10th position for Toro Rosso in the 2011 Italian Grand Prix.
Red Bull Racing second driver Mark Webber retired from the Italian Grand Prix after completing 4 laps of the race due to an accident.
As many as five cars crashed in the first lap of the race when Daniel Ricciardo’s car slid and hit all of them.
The next race, the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix will take place in two weeks’ time at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
