Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel wins 2011 Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel topped the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix held on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Vettel managed his ninth race victory of the 2011 Formula 1 season at the Singapore race circuit. After starting the Grand Prix from the pole position on the grid, the German successfully won the race under lights at the Marina Bay Street Circuit on Sunday.
All the 24 drivers except Jaime Alguersuari, Michael Schumacher and Timo Glock were classified on the Grand Prix result sheets in the end.
All the drivers used the sets of soft and supersoft tyres by Pirelli throughout the race weekend. Moreover, most of the drivers experienced new upgrades in their respective cars in the Grand Prix.
Red Bull driver Vettel was the top runner of the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix. After the Singapore race, the 24-year-old driver is moving towards the end of the season with 309 points. He now needs only one more point in order to win the championship battle.
Vettel was closely followed by McLaren’s Jenson Button, who made a lot of struggle during the Grand Prix and after putting all of his efforts, he ended his race at the second place with a gap of 1.7 seconds from Vettel.
Red Bull second driver Mark Webber was on the last stair of the podium in his RB7 car at the Marina Bay Street Circuit on Sunday. After a disappointing 2011 Italian Grand Prix, Webber got back his team on the podium in Singapore, where he struggled for his
best possible finish and ended his race behind the second runner of the race weekend as well.
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso tried his best to finish his Singapore race on the podium, but Button and Webber were faster as compared to him. After running on the sets of supersoft and soft compounds, Alonso finished his Grand Prix in the fourth spot ahead
of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton dropped down his position during the race after getting a drive-through penalty due to his contact with Ferrari’s Felipe Massa. The Brit claimed fifth position for McLaren in the end.
Paul di Resta of Force India showed his best performance of the season so far at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. He ended at the sixth position after a fight with Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg.
Rosberg took seventh place for the Petronas-sponsored team in Singapore, while Schumacher retired from the race due to his contact with Sauber’s Sergio Perez. The Mexican put his team at the 10th position in the end at Singapore.
After starting from the ninth position at the Marina Bay Circuit, Force India’s Adrian Sutil came at the eighth place in the final race classifications.
On the ninth position was Felipe Massa, who made a lot of struggle during the Singapore race after losing his front wing due to his contact with Hamilton.
The Hispania Racing Team drivers stayed at the Marina Bay Circuit until the end of the race, but could not do well.
Let’s see how the teams perform in the next round of the season, which will take place on October 9, 2011 at the Suzuka circuit in Japan.
