Red Bull Racing owner Dietrich Mateschitz expects season wrap up soon – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing owner Dietrich Mateschitz recently stated that he is expecting his team to wrap up both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships soon before the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
“We anticipate that, once again, we will achieve both of the titles this year. The fact that Sebastian is highly capable, we knew. That he would be able to deliver it so consistently over a long time has surprised many people,” Mateschitz told DPA.
RBR are currently leading both of the championships very comfortably and it seems that they already have the 2011 season in their hands as they are dominating over their rivals in terms of statistics.
Sebastian Vettel is currently leading the drivers’ championship comfortably with over 100 points ahead of his rivals and it is believed that he can even wrap up the championship this coming weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix if he wins it.
As for the constructors’ championship, the team needs to score some points consistently at the coming couple of races in order to secure the title. Since there are just 6 races left in the 2011 Formula 1 season, it seems that the rest of the season is going
to be entertaining in terms of racing only.
Other than that, Mateschitz added that if Vettel wins the title this year, he would get the same present he got before from the team.
“The same as last year. His championship-winning car,” he said.
This would be RBR’s second double championship run in a row and it seems that the team is dominating the sport as a whole as well.
They have made their mark in Formula 1 by now and since Vettel is expected to stay at the team at least until the end of the 2014 Formula 1 season, the team’s performance is not going to deteriorate that easily. The team principal Christian Horner and technical
director Adrian Newey are quite committed to the team as well as a result of which RBR are pretty much secure.
