Red Bull Racing suffers issues in RB8’s front wing during 2012 Spanish GP – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing pair of drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber faced issues in the front wing of RB8 due to which they went to the pits for a new nose during 2012 Spanish Grand Prix held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona on May 13.
The two-time world champion, Vettel expressed that he was not very much pleased with his sixth place finish in the last race as he thought that they could have performed better. Nevertheless, he said that they were able to perform reasonably well during
the end of the race.
“It was difficult race and a hard day in the office,” he said. “I'm not entirely happy, we could have finished maybe one position higher up, but we had a good recovery in the end. We were definitely stronger towards the end of the race and it was good fun,
but when it's up and down and up and down, it's quite difficult.”
In addition, he said that he was not sure about the problem he faced in the race due to which they lost some crucial time. However, he said that he made the right decision to go to the pits so as to change the nose on the front wing because he was told on
the radio that there has been some damage in the left side of the front wing.
On the other hand, Vettel’s teammate, Webber who came 11th, called the race interesting while he said that he had a very difficult first lap. He also said that he didn’t know how his front wing was damaged which caused him to move to the pits to get a new
nose as a result of which he lost a great deal of time.
He added, “We had to pit and when you're out of position here it's tough - you have to look after your tyres and when you catch people your tyres get killed, so it's chicken and egg.”
Over and above, the defending champions are still leading the constructors’ championship with 109 points and looking forward to perform at their best in the season ahead in order to defend their title.
