Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner expects tough competition at 2011 Singapore GP
Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has recently admitted that his team will have to face a lot of competition at the upcoming 2011 Singapore Grand Prix which is expected to take place on September 25.
“Maybe we should run with no downforce, because it worked at Monza. It's a completely different challenge, it's the bumpiest, toughest track on the calendar coming up, physically demanding, hot, more corners than any circuit so its going to be a big challenge,”
said Horner.
The team will not face any issues even if they do not secure the race win at Singapore as they are currently leading the constructors’ and drivers’ standings very comfortably. As a result, they can now take races more leniently and focus on the team’s future.
However, Sebastian Vettel has claimed that he is not going to rest until the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season and is going to aim for race wins despite the fact that he has almost secured the championship.
Same is the case with Horner as he claims that the team is still aiming for the best possible results at each venue as they want to end the 2011 Formula 1 season dominantly. He did admit that weather plays a huge role there and the track has not held a single
wet race up until now.
“The weather can be inclement there, we haven't had a wet race there which has been remarkable. Ideally we would achieve the same result as Monza, but we will go there and attack the race,” said the team principal.
Other than that, he added that the team has been working extremely hard since the beginning of the 2011 Formula 1 season and that was quite evident at Monza as well this past weekend for the Italian Grand Prix.
It is quite clear that the team has produced the best car this year and their car is extremely versatile as they have secured wins at high downforce and low downforce tracks as well despite the fact that their car is quite evidently reliant on its downforce
qualities.
