Red Bull Racing team technical director Adrian Newey wins coveted MIA award – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team’s technical director Adrian Newey recently secured the Motorsport Industry Association award for the Most Personal Contribution to the Motorsports Industry.
Many claim that Newey enabled Red Bull Racing to secure wins and titles single-handedly as a result of which the team secured both the constructors’ and drivers’ titles for the 2010 Formula 1 season.
The technical director was presented with the award by former Formula 1 world champion Damon Hill as an appreciation for his exceptional 30 years of service to the sport.
Other than Newey, people like Bernie Ecclestone, Sir Frank Williams, Ross Brawn and some others have also won this prestigious award.
Adrian has been a part of teams like Williams, McLaren, Fittipaldi and now Red Bull Racing Team and has enabled drivers like Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve, Mika Hakkinen, Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel to win the titles they secured during their respective
careers.
He joined Formula 1 back in 1980 and since then, he has given nothing but success to his respective teams. The best thing about Adrian Newey’s career is that he has worked with the best and the rookies of the sport as well.
When he joined the Red Bull Racing team back in 2006, the team did not have much and in just a matter of 4 years, he enabled the team and its drivers to secure victories and titles. Same is the case with Williams, he joined the team when they were not very
popular and reliable but enabled them to secure titles and wins mainly because of his speciality in aerodynamics.
Currently, Red Bull Racing are on their way to win their second constructors’ and drivers’ titles since Sebastian Vettel is leading the drivers’ standings with a margin of 80 points over his closest rival, his teammate Mark Webber.
In the constructors’ standings, the team is leading the standings with 328 points which is 110 points more than their closest rivals McLaren.
The team has secured 6 race victories up until now in just 9 races and quite amazingly, they have a perfect pole position scoring record this season as Mark Webber secured 2 pole positions while Sebastian Vettel managed 7.
The main reason behind the team’s success in 2011 is their car aerodynamics which are more superior than any other car.
It seems that taking Red Bull down while Newey is around is becoming almost impossible for both McLaren and Ferrari as RBR’s performance was not affected even after the ban on the off-throttle blown diffusers at the British Grand Prix.
