Red Bull Racing to get free Renault engines in 2011 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
Recent reports have revealed that Red Bull Racing team, the 2010 Formula 1 world champions will get free engines in the 2011 Formula 1 season according to a new deal between them and Renault/Nissan group in order to promote a new brand for Europe by the
engine suppliers titled ‘Infiniti.’
The engines will be prepared by Renault but they will be wearing ‘Infiniti’ badges in order to give the new brand the much needed recognition in Europe and also some other parts of the world. Red Bull Racing team will save almost $10 million as a result.
It is believed that the team will try to use this money on their new car ‘RB7’ and try to make it even faster.
According to the pre-season test sessions’ results, Red Bull have the fastest car up until now as compared to its rivals but these results do not matter much as each team has its own criteria for testing their respective cars therefore, one cannot rely on
these results completely. Sebastian Vettel topped the timesheets a couple of times during the pre-season test sessions but one cannot judge a team’s car from these results only.
Red Bull Racing team was able to secure both drivers’ and constructors’ titles in 2010 and one has to admit, the team secured the constructors’ title quite comfortably but the drivers’ title was uncertain until the very last second of the grand finale of
the 2010 Formula 1 season which took place in Abu Dhabi.
The team has two of the best drivers in the sport that is the defending Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel and one of the runner-ups of the 2010 drivers’ title Mark Webber. Mark competed for the title until the very last race of the 2010 Formula 1
season and he was in a more comfortable position than Sebastian statistically but unfortunately, things did not turn out his way and as a result, Sebastian won the drivers’ title.
It is expected that Team Mercedes is also going to be one of the top running teams of the 2011 Formula 1 season and reports suggest that this time, there are going to be four teams competing for the titles including Mercedes, Red Bull Racing, Ferrari and
McLaren.
Other than that, Lotus Renault GP are going to be pretty strong as well this year keeping in mind their pre-season test sessions’ results but each team’s respective car performance will be tested at its utmost at the season opening race of the 2011 Formula
1 season.
It is expected that the 2011 Formula 1 season would begin on March 27 in Australia since the Bahrain Grand Prix has been postponed for the time being due to the political unrest in the country.
