Red Bull Racing to quit NASCAR series from 2012 season – NASCAR reports
Recent reports have revealed that Red Bull Racing team has decided to quit NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship by the end of the 2011 season.
The team made its debut in NASCAR back in the 2007 season of national stock car series championship.
According to reports, the Austrian team said in a recent interview, “Red Bull Racing Team is currently seeking outside investors as we evaluate next steps in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. We are not at liberty to comment on details while negotiations are
under way. Red Bull fully supports NASCAR for the remainder of the 2011 season as we fight for victories and a position in the 2011 Chase for the Sprint Cup.”
According to details, team officials visited the Michigan International Speedway to explain their decision to the NASCAR officials. However, the drinks company has not officially announced their decision.
Red Bull team driver for car no. 4 Toyota, Kahne shared his views on a blog site about the news of his team quitting the NASCAR series.
Kahne said, “All I can say is the (No.) 4 RED BULL team is still going to do all we can to win this year. We know we can!!”
Kahne is still confident that his team will strongly fight for the 2011 season win. He holds a one-year contract with Red Bull team which will be completed by the end of 2011. For the 2012 season, he is expected to join Hendrick Motorsports Inc.
The Red Bull Racing team owns two teams in the NASCAR series. Since Red Bull’s debut in 2007, the team has struggled to win the championship.
In the past, the Austria-based team has been caught up in rumours of leaving the American stock car racing series many times.
Still there are no reasons made public about Red Bull leaving the sport. One plausible reason is that the target market of Red Bull, people aged 18 – 34, have stopped watching the sport which compelled the beverage company to venture out of the sport.
