Red Bull boss Christian Horner says Daniel Ricciardo needs to learn a lot – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has said that Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo needs to learn a lot at the moment in order to have a chance in the Red Bull team in future.
He added that he will definitely focus on Ricciardo’s progress in the upcoming British Grand Prix, which will commence from July 8, 2011 at the Silverstone circuit. However, he said Red Bull cannot think about giving him a chance with them in the near future.
The Australian driver will make his debut in Formula 1 racing at the Silverstone racetrack this weekend. The Hispania Racing Team has replaced Narain Karthikeyan with Ricciardo for the rest of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
HRT believe the new driver will perform well for them and perform better in the remaining races of the season. The team also confirmed that Karthikeyan will race in the Indian Grand Prix, which is scheduled to be held on October 30, 2011.
The Red Bull principal further added about the 22-year-old driver that he has no experience in Formula 1 and that he does not know how to perform during the Formula 1 grands prix. He said Ricciardo needs a lot of time to learn the different aspects of the
Formula 1 races.
Horner said, “Daniel has no experience of grand prix racing, he has an awful lot to learn, and HRT and Toro Rosso are the best environment for him to do that, as Sebastian (Vettel) did with Toro Rosso in 2007 and 2008. He needs to develop, it would be wrong
to rush him through. He now has to prove himself in formula one after proving himself in the lower categories.”
He went on to say, “It will be interesting to see how he now progresses. But we’ll certainly be keeping a very close eye on him.”
On the other hand, Red Bull team drivers are performing very well in the ongoing season as compared to the 2010 season. Both the drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber are working really hard for the 2011 title.
Let’s see how Ricciardo makes his debut in Formula 1 racing at the Silverstone racetrack this weekend.
