Red Bull dominant during Friday practice in Hungary – Formula 1 news
Red Bull seem to be in great touch at the moment, as their drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber dominated the Friday practice sessions in Hungary.
The pair was the fastest in FP1 and repeated the same performance during FP2, with the latter being second on both occasions.
Reflecting on his performance during the sessions, Vettel said, “The car feels okay, but there’s always a lot of work to do and there’s some room for improvement. My long run wasn’t completely clean, as we had to abort it at the start due to the brakes being
a bit hot, but you work to find the limit. I don’t think the tyres feel massively different, but they are a step in the right direction.”
On the other hand, his team-mate claimed, “It went well today and I’m happy, the car felt good and the team did a great job. Sunday is the main thing; qualifying is important, but Sunday is what we have to focus on.”
All of the teams were looking forward to doing a good job in Hungary, as the tyres had been changed by Pirelli. However, it is still quite early to make any predictions, as the real picture will be clear during the qualifiers.
Most of the teams run on high fuel loads during the Friday practice sessions, thus they are a fraction quicker on Saturdays.
However, Red Bull have got genuine pace and there is no doubt that their drivers will have a solid chance of fighting for the pole. They will be looking to get the same level of performance on race day though, as the real thing that matters is scoring maximum
points.
Looking at the performance of Lotus and Ferrari, it seems that the reigning champions will not be getting away with an easy victory. The former two teams have shown some good pace on Friday and will be hoping to maximise their speed during the qualifiers.
Moreover, Ferrari are normally better in terms of race pace, which will put their drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa in a great position to fight for a victory.
