Red Bull dominate the qualifying session of the Korean Grand Prix
The inaugural grand prix at the Korean International Circuit was expected to be something unique and what a qualifying session it was, as both of the Red Bull drivers qualified in the first row on the grid with Sebastian Vettel in 1st place followed
by his teammate and championship leader Mark Webber.
The qualifying session took place in dry conditions, as expected. The McLaren of Lewis Hamilton was dominating Q3 at first and the Red Bulls were sort of struggling to match the pace of the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso and the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton but
after the chequered flag was waved, the Red Bulls were the only two cars out on track on a flying lap and they took full advantage of it.
Fernando Alonso stayed in the first place until the very end of Q3 but the Red bulls just couldn’t stand him on top and had to do something about it. Lewis Hamilton was looking pretty quick as well but he lost some vital time in his last couple of runs and
it seemed that he was not pushing fast enough.
On the other hand, his teammate Jenson Button qualified in a disappointing 7th place and it seems that he will have to wave his championship hopes goodbye unless he comes up with a unique strategy as compared to his rivals.
Another disappointing result was from the Renault driver Robert Kubica as he qualified in 8th place behind Jenson Button even though he was looking very good in the practice session.
However, it will be an interesting race as Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton will be in the 2nd row alongside each other. As both of the drivers are aggressive, it is going to be an exciting and brutal start of the inaugural Korean Grand Prix.
As Sebastian Vettel is in pole position, he would try his best to keep his teammate behind him before the cars reach the first corner of the track if he wants to win the race and close in on his teammate in the drivers’ standings.
Mark Webber however, must be happy about but he would have to keep an eye on Lewis and Fernando behind him during the start of the race or otherwise, his race will become very difficult and nerve-racking.
