Red Bull driver Mark Webber all praise for teammate Sebastian Vettel – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing Team driver Mark Webber has said that his teammate Sebastian Vettel is performing really well and that his results of the first two races of the 2011 Formula 1 season are phenomenal.
“He's not just beating me, he's beating everyone. People always make the natural comparison between you and your team-mate, and Seb is driving really, really well and is on top of a lot of things at the moment,” Webber said when asked about Vettel in the
Shanghai paddock on Thursday.
Vettel’s title defence got off to a perfect start as he scored two pole positions followed by two consecutive wins in Australia and Malaysia. As a result, the gap between Vettel and the rest of the drivers is more than 24 points. Webber says that this huge
gap does not bother him at all.
Webber had a very good Malaysian Grand Prix as he was able to recover after losing his 3rd place on the starting grid due to a major problem with his car’s Kinetic Energy Recovery System.
He finished the race in 5th place after dropping down to 10th and Red Bull Racing Team boss Christian Horner was all praise for Webber’s amazing run.
“For me, the first race wasn't great, and Malaysia was a much, much more positive weekend. Seb was coming onto my pace in the end, he did a great job in Q3, which we've often seen from him - he's very strong in qualifying,” Webber told reporters.
Other than that, Webber said that he could have lost a lot of points but due to his brilliant performance at the Malaysian Grand Prix, he has been in control of the situation.
One of the reporters later on suggested that Mark Webber to Sebastian Vettel is like Eddie Irvine was to Michael Schumacher during their time at Ferrari as teammates back in the early 2000s. In reply to that, Webber said it was a stupid comparison and refused
to be drawn into it.
