Red Bull driver Mark Webber looking to end his season long drought at the Brazilian GP – Formula 1
Red Bull driver Mark Webber is hoping to make Sebastian Vettel work for a win at the Brazilian Grand Prix, as the Aussie aims to end his own drought.
The final Grand Prix of the season has set up very nicely, as there will be some fierce competition between the top five. Vettel will be leading the grid as he secured the record 15th pole position in the 2011 season, beating Nigel Mansell’s
14 in a season.
His teammate Webber is in at second with Jenson Button of McLaren and his team-mate Lewis Hamilton to follow the Red Bulls’ while Fernando Alonso in his Ferrari will also prove to be very competitive as well, especially if there is rain involved as it has
been forecasted.
Webber has said that he will be trying his best to stop Vettel from recording the Germans 12th win of the season. It has been a successful season for Webber as he is almost certain to finish 3rd in the drivers’ championship, but
he has no wins to show for the season. That is something the Aussie is not happy about and will be putting in the extra effort to change.
“I would be good,” he said. “Today's quali went very well, the whole weekend's been strong so it would be nice to keep the heat on Sebastian.”
He also said that he felt really good about his car, and was able to run it to its potential during the qualifiers. He felt that there was not much to separate him and Vettel in terms of how well they have driven, and he wants to capitalise on that form
to end his season long drought.
“Both of us have got the maximum out of the car today,” he added, “But unfortunately I couldn't look after Nige['s record] and get pole. But Seb did a good lap as usual and my lap was pretty good as well, to be honest. As I say, we both got the best out
of the car and I'm looking forward to the race tomorrow.”
It sets up the race for Sunday perfectly, with all the top five drivers having something to prove and to end the season on a high.
