Red Bull driver Mark Webber takes pole position for 2011 British Grand Prix - Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has scored the pole position for the 2011 British Grand Prix thanks to the weather conditions once again.
This is Webber’s second pole position of the season and one has to admit that luck was by his side at the end of the session as most of the top running drivers were unable to make their final runs as a result of a rain shower towards the end of Q3.
Red Bull quite cleverly secured two fast paced times before the rain started and as soon as Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button came out on the track, it was too late as the cars started to lose grip noticeably. Since they were
on slicks, there was no way that they could score a good lap time.
Nevertheless, Sebastian Vettel is going to start alongside his teammate in row 1 followed by Alonso and Massa in row 2. It was a pretty good qualifying session for the Brazilian driver but due to the conditions, he was unable to make the most of his performance
towards the end.
Jenson Button is going to start from 5th place on the grid followed by Paul di Resta and Pastor Maldonado quite surprisingly while Kamui Kobayashi and Nico Rosberg are going to start the race from 8th and 9th places respectively.
Lewis Hamilton on the other hand is going to start the race from 10th place as he was unable to complete his final lap at the end of the session.
Michael Schumacher also lost a lot of pace during the Q2 session as a result of which, he is going to have to start the race from 13th place on the grid.
Vitaly Petrov and Nick Heidfeld will be starting the race from 14th and 16th places respectively and since some rain showers are expected during the race as well, the British Grand Prix promises to be an interesting one. Let's keep
