Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel claims Spa-Francorchamps is every driver’s dream – Formula 1 news
The reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel has recently stated that Spa-Francorchamps where the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix is expected to take place is this coming weekend is every driver’s dream.
“The Spa circuit has everything that a driver dreams of, unbelievably fast corners and slow chicanes, and it can be full of surprises due to the weather. It can be raining one minute and then the sun can be shining the next,” he said.
The current championship leader claims that Spa is a very well designed track and it is definitely one of his favourite circuits in the Formula 1 calendar as the track’s location and corners are very unique.
“The track follows the hills of the Ardennes, and it’s one of my absolute favourites. Eau Rouge and Blanchimont are real highlights, in dry conditions they can be driven without any problems but in the wet it’s a different story and you have to have dig
deep to put your foot down,” said the young German.
He added that his favourite part of the track is the double left known as the “Pouhon” where the drivers drive to the limit and it is a major test of skills and speed.
However, he claims that the final tight chicane of the circuit is quite difficult as it is a completely different turn and is quite unexpected comparative to the rest of the track.
Red Bull Racing are in a very strong position currently in terms of championship and statistics but in terms of pace, they are in a very difficult position as both Ferrari and McLaren seem much faster than them during the races. As a result, the remaining
8 races of the 2011 Formula 1 season are going to be very competitive for the top running teams of the sport.
The remaining races are going to be very important for Ferrari and McLaren as they need to score podiums at each race and hope that Red Bull do not finish on at least 2 occasions in order to close in on their championship lead.
