Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel dominates the 2011 Formula 1 European Grand Prix in Valencia
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel scored his 6th victory of the 2011 Formula 1 season in Valencia at the European Grand Prix with ease as he finished the race around 10 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Vettel started the race from pole and since the beginning of the race, he dominated the rest of the field including his teammate Mark Webber who started the race from 2nd place on the grid but finished in 3rd place behind the Spaniard’s Ferrari.
Overall, it was a very good weekend for Red Bull Racing with both of its drivers finishing on the podium while McLaren on the other hand must be extremely disappointed by their performance this weekend.
Lewis Hamilton finished in 4th place while the race winner of the Canadian Grand Prix Jenson Button finished in a disappointing 6th place. The two McLaren drivers were divided by Felipe Massa who had another average weekend as expected.
Other than that, Nico Rosberg finished in 7th place while his teammate, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher finished in 17th place after starting from 8th place on the grid.
It was an extremely disappointing weekend for Mercedes GP while Toro Rosso on the other hand, scored 4 points since Jaime Alguersuari finished in 8th place ahead of Adrian Sutil and Nick Heidfeld.
Lotus Renault GP struggled to perform at its best as well at the street circuit of Valencia as the team secured just 1 point which was scored by Heidfeld while Vitaly Petrov finished in 15th place giving the team a pointless run.
Nevertheless, Sebastian Vettel has now extended his lead to 186 points and is now 77 points ahead of Mark Webber and Jenson Button who are currently in 2nd place in the drivers’ standings with 109 points each. It seems that Vettel has everything under control at the moment while Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso are currently in 4th and 5th places with 97 and 87 points respectively.
