Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel has high hopes of a better and faster RB8 – Formula 1 news
Sebastian Vettel has expressed his haste to see the new Red Bull.
Vettel is going to hope that the new RB8 will be as helpful as its predecessor RB7 and help him secure the 2012 title.
Vettel rose to recognition in 2010 when he out of nowhere came up with strong performances and took his first world championship title. The Formula 1 fraternity was shocked to see the youngest ever driver to claim a world title.
Although 2010 had was not a perfect season for Vettel as he made several mistakes but a strong finish to the season secured him a title. 2011 was almost perfect, the German claimed 11 Grands Prix wins and claimed the 2011 title with four races to still go
in the season such was his dominance.
It has also got to be noted that Vettel dominance was also partly due to the dominance Red Bull car, and its innovative off-throttle blown diffuser design. Now that for 2012 regulation changes have banned that very innovation, it has been speculated 2012
will not see such dominance from any one driver.
Vettel would want to prove his critics wrong and the RB8 will play the integral role in his quest.
“We're all curious about the car,” he told the BBC. “We see it coming together. It's like a child being born. I'm not a father but they tell me that's how it feels. We're all very happy with this year, so it wouldn't be right to ask for more. If we can match
2011 and do better here and there, that would be fantastic.”
“There isn't much of an off-season, so it's really important to use that to shut the system down, calm down and charge the batteries … not forget about F1 but forget for a while about all the stress,” he further added referring to the Christmas holidays.
It would be interesting to see whether the RB8 stands up to its predecessor and how well Vettel takes the pressure of performing under the burden of huge expectations from fans and critics alike. The season is setting up to be a rollicking one.
