Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel satisfied with performance of team – Formula 1 news
The reigning Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing has said that he is happy with the team’s performance against its rivals during the two free practice sessions in Australia.
During the first practice session, the teams had to deal with wet conditions. Red Bull Racing Team handled the situation better than its rivals as Mark Webber scored the fastest time of the session followed by Sebastian Vettel with the second fastest time
of the session.
“We were able to complete a lot of laps today, but the weather has been a bit difficult. It starts raining, but then goes dry again, which doesn't make it that easy to test different things. Despite that, I think we got a good idea as to where we are compared
to our competitors,” Vettel said.
However, the conditions stabilised during the second session and McLaren-Mercedes scored the fastest times of the session with Jenson Button as the fastest driver of the day followed by his teammate Lewis Hamilton.
Red Bull’s technical director Adrian Newey recently stated that the team’s new car is just 3 to 5 tenths of a second faster than its rivals and that the team was not happy with the achievement.
If the statement is true, it means that Red Bull Racing Team might be running on a heavier fuel load as compared to its rivals or maybe McLaren’s new upgrades which they applied to their new car on Friday proved to be a success for them.
Red Bull’s other driver Mark Webber is not underestimating the drivers ahead of him during the Friday practice sessions.
“We've still got some work to do; there are some quick guys out there. It was good to finally try the tyres out on this circuit and I had a go with everything new on the car. McLaren look quick, but with Ferrari you can never tell, as they always run a bit
more fuel on a Friday,” said Webber.
