Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel says race victory in Hungary was possible – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that a race victory in the 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix was possible for him.
Vettel also mentioned that he is not happy with his second place finish in the Hungarian race weekend as he was hoping for a race victory in Budapest.
He discussed with the media that he made small mistakes like other drivers. However, he said that he is not 100 percent happy with his Hungarian GP results, because his target was winning the race and not a second place finish.
The German did not take a very positive start to the Budapest race weekend as he was clearly outperformed by Lewis Hamilton in the first two practice sessions. However, Red Bull worked overnight on Vettel’s car and ensured that they addressed the issues
with it. As a result, Vettel not only topped free practice three but also took the pole for the Hungarian GP. However, McLaren driver Jenson Button outperformed Vettel on the raceday and took his second victory of the season.
After a close fight with Button, Vettel was 3.5 seconds off the pace of him and ended his race ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.
Talking to the reporters, the 24-year-old driver said, “I think second in the championship is Mark but I don't know how many points, I don't care, I don't calculate them. I see Fernando ahead of me on a different set of tyres and I don't think about the
championship when I am racing, I think about trying to win.”
Vettel went on to mention, “Jenson scored more points today, other people scored less, but that is not really important. Our target has to be to win races and I can tell you - we still feel very hungry. I feel hungry, hungry in Hungary, to win races.”
After finishing his race on the second place on the podium in Hungary, Vettel is still leading the 2011 Formula 1 drivers’ championship with 234 points.
Let’s see how Vettel performs in the second part of the ongoing season following his second place finish in Hungary.
