Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel says they will get faster as the season progresses – Formula 1 news
Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel believes Red Bull Racing are going to improve even more at the upcoming races of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
“I think if you look at the championship so far it has been tight and it will stay tight. People will obviously try to catch up as much as they can and try to win races and we have to make sure that we keep improving our car ourselves,” Vettel told the media.
Red Bull Racing are currently dominating the 2011 Formula 1 season with 5 wins in just 7 races and a perfect pole position score. However, since McLaren and Ferrari have been closing in on the reigning world champions, Red Bull are struggling to ‘dominate’
races now.
The racing pace of Red Bull Racing is noticeably quite different from their qualifying pace and one has to admit that the dominance Red Bull is currently showing is mainly because of their qualifying results.
Nevertheless, the RB7 still has room for improvement according to Vettel and he believes that the team is going to achieve the sort of pace they achieved in the beginning of the season when they qualified almost a second faster than the rest of the teams.
“Day by day we have to go step by step and find new things. Back at the factory we have guys trying to make things better in many ways, not just aero wise but also mechanically, and we do bring a lot of new parts to the track. We just have to hope that they
work and that they make the car faster,” he added.
The Canadian Grand Prix was an eye opener for the team as Jenson Button took the victory out of the nowhere as his pace was quite remarkable when the track’s racing line dried up.
Other than that, the race was quite eventful and confusing for the drivers due to the drastic condition changes throughout the race, safety car periods and the race restart.
Let’s see how the defending champions fare in the next round of the season, scheduled to take place in two weeks’ time in Valencia.
