The youngest champion in the history of Formula 1 had a very good time in the winter testing and he was expected to be strong this season, just like he was in the previous year. He did not disappoint his team and his fans worldwide, as he put the Australian
track on fire with some speedy lap times.
McLaren-Mercedes surprised everyone with their pace in qualifying on Saturday. Other than the fans and experts, drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button would themselves have been surprised with their car’s performance.

row of the grid.
Mark Webber has a reputation of being a qualifying specialist, but he was not able to outpace his teammate during Saturday’s qualifying sessions. The Australian driver finished third in Q3.
The fourth spot was taken by Jenson Button, who will be quite satisfied with his performance. Although he would have liked to qualify ahead of his teammate Hamilton, the important thing would be to finish the race in a better position.
Ferrari had a tough outing as their drivers were not able to match the pace of both Red Bull and McLaren. However, Fernando Alonso took the fifth position overall and he will be looking forward to an improved show on race day.
Lotus Renault will be delighted with Vitaly Petrov’s performance, who qualified at his career best sixth position. The Russian was followed by Nico Rosberg and Felipe Massa.
Kamui Kobayashi and Sebastien Buemi completed the top ten with their fighting lap times. They will be given a hard time by Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher, who will start the race at 11th.
