Red Bull duo, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel end the enmity - Formula 1
The Red Bull duo, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel are insistent that their last year’s rivalry has now come to an end.
Both drivers declared that last season’s issues between the two have been resolved and they are looking forward to a clean air in the team this year. The 2010 Formula 1 season saw the two indulge in a bitter rivalry, which cost the team some valuable points.
The enmity between the two was evidently seen at the Turkish Grand Prix, where Webber and Vettel, when close to a certain 1-2 finish for the team, crashed into each other in chase of a race win.
While talking to the media now, the reigning World Champion Vettel said that with the beginning of the new season, both of them are willing to give a new start to the relationship between them.
However, he insisted that once on the track, the competition between the two will still remain the same. He added that both of them are here with the same goal that is the title. He believes that as long as they are in the sport they will keep trying to
beat each other.
Vettel further explained, “Last year several times we had differing opinions. But we're not brothers, we don't have the same parents, so there is a strong chance we're not the same type of people. But even brothers sometimes can be very different.”
Last season saw the two get into a head to head battle. Although for most part of the season the Austrian dominated the points’ tally, yet, at the last round, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Vettel overtook Webber to claim his first world title.
As the two enter the new season now, Vettel stated, “It's still difficult to say. Sometimes depending on the configurations we're going 8 or 9 seconds slower. For this reason it's difficult to read what the other teams are doing. But this year our car has
behaved rather well in terms of reliability as much as speed.”
This year again, Red Bull is considered to have the fastest car on the grid, and many believe that Vettel will be able to safeguard his title.
