Red Bull duo shows great pace at Friday practices
Just like the entire season, it seemed that the Red Bull men had wings at the Interlagos Track this Friday. The two practice sessions for the Brazilian Grand Prix seen yesterday gave the perfect start needed by Red Bull.
Both the first as well as the second practice saw the two men lead the caravan of cars. They were fast and furious and their determination was unmatched. Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull cruised through the track and just like many other races of the season
he marked the fastest laps both the times the cars were out on the track. The first practice saw him stamp the quickest lap in 1:12.328s while at the second one he further reduced to just 1:11.968s.
Moreover, in both the practices he was followed by his teammate, Mark Webber, who ended the first session in 0.482s behind him while later in the afternoon he went 0.104s short of Vettel.
The Red Bull team Principal Christian Horner was the most excited man on the track. After having struggled extremely hard throughout the season, slipping away titles was the last thing he wanted to see.
The debut Korean Grand Prix held last month at the newly-built Korean International circuit was the worst race of the season for the team. Both the team drivers had to pack up the race without earning even a single point. The pole sitter of the last race,
Sebastian Vettel was doing a brilliant job as his RB6 lead the rally of the cars all through the track. However, as he entered the last and the final laps, just a little before heading for certain victory, the engine of his car blew up. The poor incident packed
up his race, taking away the hope of a very certain 4th victory of the season. On the other hand, Webber lost his race at the 18th lap as he slipped off the track, due to the heavy rainfall which made the surface extra slippery. The retirement of
the top two drivers, granted a very fortunate victory to the Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso.
The Korean Grand Prix marked the 5th victory of the season for the struggling driver, thus taking him to the top of the points’ tally. The position was previously occupied by the Red Bull’s ace, Webber. However, owing to last week’s pointless
finish he had to settle down at second place, followed by the McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton who is also a very tough contender of the season.
On the other hand, the unfortunate weekend in Korea dropped Vettel from third place to forth with his 206 points. The difference of 25 points from the charts’ topper has no doubt dimmed his chances of bagging the first victory of the season, yet he is determined
to get the hold on the title back and this time more forcefully.
The two practice sessions held yesterday, showed a great pace from the racer. Like many times earlier this season, Vettel was able to mark the fastest laps. This year has seen the German do very well in the practices and he had been the best man in the qualifying
sessions as well. If the championship was to be decided on the basis of qualifying surely he would have won it by now. Out of the last 17 races held so far, nine have been started by the driver from pole position.
The form and spirit shown by Vettel on Friday practices predicts once again that he would be brilliant in the qualifying as well.
Moreover, if he is able to settle for the pole position, the chances of winning the Brazilian Grand Prix would be quite certain for the driver.
