Red Bull fixes KERS issue ahead of Turkish race: Formula 1 News
Red Bull Racing's team consultant, Helmut Marko, has informed the media that the team has fixed its car Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) issue ahead of the Turkish race.
The team's driver, Mark Webber, had this issue in the start of 2011 season. As a result of this, his RB7 car failed to performed its good run on the grid. Despite the KERS issue, the car was impressive over the first three races of the season.
Red Bull Racing team worked out on the issue between the gap of China and Turkey race. However, after fixing it, they have confirmed that their car has no more problems and that the drivers can use KERS in the up-coming race weekend.
Marko told the media, "Our KERS is fine; over the Easter break we have made some modifications. It was believed the main problem was overheating. It is much better now, it works. And "The next two tracks should be good for us."
Webber kicked off to a tough start in the season. Due to some issues in his car, he was unable to gather his strong run against the top runners of the Australia race. However, he finished in fifth place for the team. His team-mate Sebastian Vettel put his
team on the top of spot.
Red Bull team took part in the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix, where both the drivers successfully finished their Friday free practice session and qualifying round on the track. The race again proved lucky for Vettel, as he was the winner of the course, but Webber
again failed to complete his pole position, as he was unable to activate the KERS during the race.
Before the start of Chinese Grand Prix, the team announced that Webber will move on the Shanghai grid without KERS. However, it was very difficult for him to compete with strong rivals without this system.
The Australian driver started his race at the eighteenth on China grid. Despite no KERS, he really worked hard during the race and completed his third podium place for the team. He told the media that, he took a lot of confidence from his performance, which
he made in Shanghai race.
A few days ago, the 34-year-old driver has said that may be he will switch to Ferrari after the completion of his three-year contract with his current team.
The team is hoping to grab their third win of the 2011's season, as they are considered to be a strong team of Formula 1 racing. The Turkish Grand Prix is going to start from May 8. However, all teams have arrived at the Istanbul Park Circuit, for the preparation
