Red Bull team principal Christian Horner praises Sebastian Vettel – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has said that Sebastian Vettel’s last two wins were the two best races of his career as he had perfect weekends and won in both Monte Carlo and Circuit de Catalunya.
“It was a world champion's performance. To soak up the pressure from Fernando and Jenson like he did, it was an awesome performance from him. What he did in Barcelona, which seems an awful long time ago now, and what he delivered in Monaco, has been absolutely
fantastic,” he said.
Vettel secured the Spanish Grand Prix after winning the Turkish Grand Prix two weeks before that. The reigning world champion has scored five pole positions and has five wins in six races in the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season which means that he has an over
80 percent success rate this season.
However, it seems that the rest of the teams like Ferrari and McLaren are trying their best to get hold of Red Bull Racing team’s pace which seems unstoppable at the moment.
Races including the Spanish Grand Prix were quite threatening for the team though as Lewis Hamilton finished just 6 tenths of a second behind the young German but Horner believes that Vettel is in a league of his own this year.
“But he's made another step this year, and as a driver and a person he's just developed tremendously well, and that's coming through in his performances in the car. Over the last seven days I would say he has produced the two best drives of his career,”
said the team boss.
Other than that, he admitted that his number one driver is in a pretty good position in terms of points but the competition is tough keeping in mind the outcome of the past two races.
Vettel is currently leading the drivers’ standings with 143 points which is around 60 points more than his closest rival Lewis Hamilton of McLaren-Mercedes.
The upcoming race in Canada might prove to be a positive change for the rest of the teams. Let’s see if that happens in two weeks time.
