Red Bull - Team of the year according to the voting held by ESPN
It was recently announced that ESPN and many other websites asked their supporters and viewers to vote for the categories of best team, best driver etc. It was quite refreshing and interesting to see what the fans thought about this season and to know how
they rated the drivers and teams according to their performances this season.
After revealing that Sebastian Vettel was voted as the best driver of the year, ESPN revealed that the Red Bull Racing Team was voted as the best team of 2010 with McLaren in 2nd and Ferrari in 3rd. Red Bull was the best team without
a doubt but it was a close competition between McLaren and Ferrari. McLaren was quite sloppy in the 2nd half with a hand full of retirements and blunders. But similarly, Ferrari was nowhere near McLaren until the German Grand Prix where Ferrari
scored a 1-2 finish.
Nevertheless, Red Bull was voted as the best team of the year by a panel of experts that included Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart and Gerard Lopez.
Since Sebastian Vettel took 15 pole positions this season, it is quite clear that Red Bull was the fastest car on the track and since the team secured both drivers’ and constructors’ titles, the team clearly had the best car on track.
Christian Horner was delighted with his team’s achievement this year and he believes that with Adrian Newey by his side, the team will do wonders once again next season.
“It's fantastic that we have been voted team of the year by ESPNF1 and thanks to everyone who voted on the panel. It was an incredible season for us, which resulted in four one-two finishes, nine wins, fifteen pole positions and two World Championships,”
said Christian.
Red Bull is expected to reveal its car for 2011 soon as well and according to Christian Horner, the team is expected to keep the same drivers’ line-up for next season.
“It was the realization of a high target that we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year and it's thanks to the hard work that was put in by the team, all our suppliers and everyone at Red Bull along with the unwavering support from Mr. Mateschitz.
We will now build on this result and get ready for new challenges in 2011,” he added.
