Red Bull thrashes rivals at the Brazilian Grand Prix; Vettel and Webber on top followed by Alonso
Red Bull was unable to perform at its best at the qualifying session at the legendary track Interlagos this weekend after Nico Hulkenberg surprisingly took the pole position from Sebastian Vettel in the finishing time of Q3. However,
Red Bull managed to secure the 2nd and 3rd place for Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber respectively.
Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, in 4th and 5th places respectively, followed the two Red Bulls at the wet qualifying session in Brazil and it seemed that it was going to be a tough and close race in Sao Paulo. However, as
the race began at Interlagos, the two Red Bulls and Fernando Alonso comfortably went ahead of Nico Hulkenberg but it seemed that Lewis Hamilton was struggling drastically behind the Williams as he claimed that he did not have much grip.
However, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber led the pack like a pied piper throughout the race and it seemed that the Ferraris and McLarens were nowhere near the two Red Bulls. Lewis took over the 4th place after struggling
vitally and maintained his spot throughout the race after that. It seemed that Jenson Button was clearly aware that he had no chance of matching the pace of the top 4 drivers after he took over 5th place but he is finally out of the 2010 Drivers’
championship mathematically as well, as he is now 47 points adrift of the championship leader Fernando Alonso.
After an exhilarating and perfect race in Brazil, Sebastian Vettel finished on top followed by his teammate Mark Webber in 2nd place to give Red Bull a 1-2 finish and due to this outstanding performance,
Red Bull has secured the constructors’ title for the 2010 Formula 1 season. Fernando Alonso finished in 3rd place behind the two Red Bulls but was able to maintain his championship lead and is now leading by 246 points, just 8 points
ahead of Mark Webber, while Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton trail by 15 and 24 points respectively.
With just 1 race remaining in the 2010 Formula 1 season, there are still four drivers running for the 2010 Drivers’ standings. However, the teams will not have to wait for long as the grand finale in Abu Dhabi will take place in
one week’s time.
