Red Bull vows to treat both the team drivers equally
Like several times earlier this season, the Red Bull Racing has once again declared that the team is not going to favour any of its drivers. The team boss, Christian Horner has announced gazillion times that he believes in a fair
play and an equal chance will be given to both the drivers, avoiding any kind of team orders.
The last race held in Korea had been very disappointing for the team as both its drivers, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel had to wrap up the day without being able to bag any score. With this finish, the Drivers’ Championship
leader, Webber slipped down to second place in the charts handing the apex to the Ferrari driver, Fernando Alonso.
On the other hand, Sebastian Vettel, who started the race from the pole position, had to pack up at the 45th lap owing to his car’s engine failure. With these two poor finishes Webber now stands at 2nd place
in the Drivers' Standings, 11 points adrift the topper while Vettel is further 14 points behind his teammate at 4th place.
With only two more races to go and only 50 more points to play for, the chances of Vettel seem far lesser than that of Webber. As the team packed up and headed back to home from Korea many believed that Red Bull would now change
its strategy for the next two races giving Webber an additional support while asking Vettel to act as a second driver.
However, while talking to the media earlier today the team principal has very clearly stated that both the team drivers still hold the same place and will run for the title just the same way.
While addressing to the journalists yesterday, Horner said, "We have two fantastic drivers and we will continue to support both equally in line with Red Bull's credible sporting ethos. As we saw in Korea it is impossible to predict
what will happen with five drivers being so closely in contention. For example, with 10 laps to go Sebastian had moved into the lead of the championship, with Alonso then moving into the lead following our bad luck.”
He further added that the season has changed so dramatically and there had been so many surprising results one after the other race that now it is difficult to make any predictions. He believes that chances of both his drivers
remain just the same.
He concluded saying, “Ultimately as we now approach the end of the championship, the mathematics will speak for themselves and I'm certain that both drivers will do everything possible to achieve the best result for the team."
