Red Bull want to carry on their success streak in the future – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team principal, Christian Horner has said that they want to carry on their success streak in the future despite winning their third consecutive double world championship in the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Red Bull struggled a lot during the last year’s pre-season testing programme as they faced many difficulties in developing their car because of the changes in rules and regulations by FIA.
Furthermore, their drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber faced some technical issues in some races. Nevertheless, their chief technical officer, Adrian Newey successfully developed the most competent car towards the end of the season with which the veteran
German driver performed tremendously well during the last few races.
Although, Vettel had a very tough competition with Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who fought really well until the very end of the season, but the Spaniard lost the championship by just 3 points.
The 25-year-old claimed his third consecutive drivers’ championship and became the youngest triple world champion in the history of the sport. Meanwhile, the Milton Keynes based squad won their third successive constructors’ championship after beating their
main rival, Ferrari.
Horner has said that they have achieved a great milestone in the world of autosport after claiming victory in the last season. However, he insisted that they are still looking forward to achieve more and more success in the future.
“In many respects the pressure is off us because we've achieved a triple double World Championship,” Horner told Sky Sports. “Nobody can take that away from us, that's in the history books.”
“But we put the pressure on ourselves because we want to continue that run of success. Of course, going into the season as reigning champions, you're there to be beaten, you're there to be shot at. But it's something we've got used to over the last couple
of years. Pressure is part of this business, it's part of this sport,” he added.
Presently, the defending champions are aiming to take the most out of the pre-season testing programme. It will be thrilling to see how they show up in this season and whether they will be able to defend their title or not.
