Red Bull’s 2011 car is an evolution – Adrian Newey
The 2010 Formula 1 world champions Red Bull were clearly the best team out of McLaren, Ferrari and themselves.
Many claim that it is all because of the fact that the team’s director Adrian Newey is a mechanical genius and with someone like him on their side, Red Bull is bound to win and perform better than the rest of the teams. Adrian has worked with Williams and
McLaren during their title reigns and he truly is a unique team director. Adrian joined Red Bull in 2006 but was unable to provide them with a promising car until 2009. However, after a successful 2010 Formula 1 season, it seems that Adrian Newey is now even
more confident as he believes that the team will have an even better car, which might be an evolution for Formula 1. He said,
“It is a further evolution of the current series. The DNA of the car is the same. The RB6 was basically an evolution of the last car; one basically turned into the next.”
Since the 2011 Formula 1 season is going to have a lot of rule changes, including the re-introduction of KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), it is going to be interesting to see how the teams play with this technology. Adrian added that he would not mind
if other teams complain about their car next season, just like they did this year. He believes that it is a compliment and he hopes it happens again as it would mean that they have a better car than the rest of the teams. Since the 2013 Formula 1 season is
going to be quite revolutionary for the teams, as the FIA claims that they are opting for more environment friendly rules in 2013, the teams will be restricted to many things. As a result Christian Horner stated that the team would not mind changing their
engine suppliers. He told the media,
“We are on stand-by for an interesting partnership. And even the idea of developing our own engine, I think, is no longer so absurd. It is important to keep all the options open. This is one of Mr. Mateschitz's great strengths.”
Many believe that the squad might team up with Volkswagen in 2013 but it is still uncertain what the team has in store for the 2013 Formula 1 season.
