Red Bulls Making a Change in the MLS and American Soccer
The New York red Bulls came in last in 2009 though now they have completely changed their entire organization.
They have replaced everything from a new General manager Erik Soler to the new squad boss Hans Backe. The team has now moved to a completely new Red Bull Arena which is located in Harriosn, New Kersey.
Many people are of the opinion that the Red Bulls are on their way to be something that every Major League Soccer organization there is should model to and try to follow.
The Red Bulls are right now in second place in the Eastern Conference, they are just behind in line from the Columbus Crew, and this is a major step forward that the team has taken as they finished in last, the year before.
They have signed Rafa Marquez and Thierry Henry to join them and they have recently won their first ever Major League Soccer Cup.
As the Red Bulls have signed Henry now, they have an incredible finisher who goes along great with Juan Pable Angel. In addition, Marquez is providing a lot of stability in the back of the group, where there is not any defender that has the same qualities as Marquez.
Moreover, what is great about this improvement and these moves is that it’s not just something for the New York Red Bulls but it’s a great thing for Major league Soccer. As now the team and in the broader perspective, the league has included Marquez and Henry; they are in mediums that they could only have dreamed about several years ago.
Another thing is that by picking up Henry and Marquez now allows the league to operate on new mediums that the league could have only dreamed of several years ago. Henry is a great goal scorer and this will further draw fans into the new Red Bulls Arena and also create a general interest in soccer for the Americans.
Henry has high predictions and a lot of people are saying that he can have a great career ending in Major League Soccer and he’s really capable of netting some incredible goals. In addition, another thing that will call in the masses is that Marquez will attract the Latino population, which is in a high concentration in the New York Metropolitan area.
Besides just the title of being the captain of the 2010 World Cup team from Mexico, generally attracts a lot of attention to the player and will definitely help sell a lot of seats in the Red Bull Arena and get a major increase in the Latino fans.
However, another thing which makes one of the most important factors to the Red Bulls signing them is that they had to use their last two remaining spots.
It is pretty obvious that the MLS wants clubs to sign as much designated players as they can, so they changed the new labour agreement. As of now, they can have allocated a max limit of three people and for the case of the Red Bulls using these players, they paid a luxury tax of two fifty thousand dollars and this was evenly distributed and all the other MLS franchises.
This is going to make all other clubs join other world class and famous players as well and this is improving the soccer scene in general in the states and is also helpful for the teams and thus the league.
This summer there have already been a lot of signings like these we have Alvaro Fernandez and Blaise Nkufo to the Seattle Sounders, Mista to Toronto FC, Nery Castillo to Chicago Fire and Branko Boskovic has signed with DC United.
Right now, the designated player is doing what it was really intended to do, they are bringing in foreign talent into America and this is making American soccer grow. After the Americans entering the last sixteen in the World Cup, there are definitely expectations growing.
