Red Bull’s Mark Webber: Ferrari is our toughest rival in Formula 1
Red Bull driver, Mark Webber named Ferrari as the toughest of all the rival teams on the 2011 Formula 1 grid. He believes that the Italian squad will give a strong competition for the upcoming season’s title.
While talking to the media earlier today, the Australian stated that he is very happy with the new car and believes that Red Bull will be very strong on next season’s tracks. However, he admitted that Ferrari’s pace and reliability was exceptional too.
The final pre-season test session is underway in Barcelona. Webber marked the fastest lap on the first day of the test, while finished at third place on the third day. However, the second day of the fourth test was conquered by the other team driver and
the World Champion, Sebastian Vettel.
While many sport analysts believe that Red Bull will be dominating the track again this season, Webber said, "The form is still very hard. I would not put my house on qualifying in Melbourne, I don't know who has the outright pace. I think we're going okay
but it's impossible for me to know what the red guys (Ferrari) are doing. Race runs they are going OK, they look quick."
The caravan of cars is set to meet for the first round of the season in Australia, at the end of this month. Originally the season was scheduled to kick off with the season opener, Bahrain Grand Prix, on the 13th of March, but political turmoil
in the country forced the authorities to postpone it.
However, the Australian racer is happy to begin the season in his home town. He proclaimed, "I'm ready for the first race and you always want a good run in your home race but I don't want to jinx things for myself. In terms of team preparations it's the
best we've had in terms of reliability and understanding the car but it's still a long, long way to go."
The first race will now be held on the 27th of March, while qualifying is set for the 26th.
