Red Bull’s Mark Webber admits RB7 is not to the limit at the moment – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has recently admitted after testing the RB7 throughout the Friday practice session that he is not satisfied with the performance as the car is not at its limit at the moment and the team can do a much better job with the
car for the Belgian Grand Prix.
“The weather was a little bit up and down today. We got some dry running in, but only around four laps: two laps on the soft tyre and two on the medium. Otherwise we were just doing general housekeeping, looking at ride heights, brake balance and all that
stuff before we get the car to the limit,” he said.
Despite the fact that he secured the fastest time of the day during the dry conditions, he believes that the team can still squeeze more performance out of the RB7. However, the team has not been able to do so since the conditions have varied a lot throughout
the day as a result of which, they do not have a sufficient amount of data.
Webber claims that he has been able to set his car up though but is yet to test the car to its limit and push it as much as he can keeping the conditions in mind.
“We need to get out there and get the mileage in, but on the other side of the coin we need to save tyres for Saturday and Sunday. The kerbs are the hardest thing here when it's wet, it makes the white lines like ice and it's very easy to make a mistake,”
Webber added.
This is not good news for RBR but they still have another day of practice and qualifying left before the race.
The Belgian Grand Prix is extremely important for the top-running teams and one has to admit that if RBR struggles to perform this weekend, they would be in a lot of pressure for the remaining races of the season. It will be something they do not want at
this stage of the season despite the fact they are leading the championship comfortably.
