Red Bull’s Mark Webber tops Friday Practice session two at Spa-Francorchamps – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber topped the Friday Practice session two at Spa-Francorchamps in wet conditions on August 26, 2011 in Belgium.
The team driver set the fastest time of 1 minute 50.321 seconds in the afternoon Practice session on the damp racetrack in Belgium.
All the teams took part in the second Friday Free Practice session after the morning session. The drivers used the sets of soft and medium tyres by Pirelli during the Practice session 2 and had a successful run with these compounds in afternoon as well.
Webber spent just a few seconds on the dry racetrack in the afternoon and in the remaining time, he managed his practice run in wet conditions.
The second pacesetter of Friday practice session two was Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, who completed 19 laps with a gap of 0.140 seconds from Webber.
McLaren-Mercedes driver Jenson Button was at the third place for his team in afternoon. After struggling on the sets of medium and soft compounds, Button finished his session ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who ended up in the fourth spot.
Felipe Massa put Ferrari at the fifth place in the afternoon session.
Both Mercedes GP drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg were the first and second pacesetters in the morning session respectively, but they dropped down from their positions at the sixth and eleventh place correspondingly in the afternoon session.
Sauber’s Sergio Perez has a gap of 1.334 seconds from Webber and after struggling with his C30 car, he ended his session at the seventh position.
Force India reserve driver Nico Hulkenberg drove the VJM04 car during the second Practice session at the Spa circuit and after putting all of his efforts he came at the eighth place in practice session 2 classifications.
Force India race driver Paul di Resta ended his afternoon session in the ninth spot after running on the soft and medium tyres.
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel was again unable to impress the afternoon Friday Practice session after the first run. The German has a gap of 1.469 seconds from his teammate Webber in afternoon and finished his session at the tenth place as well.
Williams’ drivers Pastor Maldonado and Rubens Barrichello were at the 12th and 16th places respectively in the second Practice session.
Kamui Kobayashi came at the 13th place for Sauber in the afternoon session.
Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi claimed 14th and 15th positions for Toro Rosso.
Bruno Senna took part in the second Practice session of the Belgium Grand Prix in Nick Heidfeld’s R31 car. After struggling in wet conditions, he ended his run at the 17th place ahead of Lotus driver Jarno Trulli, who came in the
18th spot.
Hispania Racing Team drivers were again at the back of the field in the afternoon.
Renault’s Vitaly Petrov was pushed back to the midfield in Friday Practice session 2 due to having a power steering issue.
