Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel: Ferrari once again strong, McLaren to watch out for – Formula 1
Red Bull’s Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel has stated that Ferrari are once again proving to be strong in the German Grand Prix of the 2011 season.
The defending champion added that the McLaren team will also be the one to watch out for as they surprise on the race day with something special. Vettel added that McLaren were pretty strong at the start of the season and slipped down a bit in the last few
encounters.
Talking about Red Bull’s performance in the Friday practice sessions of the German GP, Vettel stated that although the team performed well in both the 90-minute sessions, still the results were not hundred percent satisfactory.
“I think Ferrari looks again very competitive after what we've seen today, with both cars. With McLaren as I said it's very difficult to judge if they are back to where they were, for the majority of the season, in terms of exhaust blowing etc. I think they
will be quick as well tomorrow, so you can't forget about them,” commented Vettel.
In the first practice session, Fernando Alonso was untouchable and posted a time which was almost a second quicker than the rest of the field. In the second practice session, Red Bull’s Mark Webber edged the Spaniard to take the first position on the chart
but Vettel was still third on the table.
Vettel stated, “We're not 100% happy yet. We'll see what happens tomorrow. At this stage obviously a lot of work ahead. I think if we can make a step forward, then it's worth a lot.”
Vettel added that rain is the prediction for Sunday so the race prospects can get a drastic change in a minute.
Vettel is leading the drivers’ championship table and has opened up a gap of 80 points to the second driver, Mark Webber.
The German Grand Prix will be contested on July 24, 2011 and the championship is expected to be decided in it. Let’s see how the weekend goes ahead.
