Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel adds Felipe Massa and Michael Schumacher in the list of forerunners
Reigning World Champion, Sebastian Vettel hinted a very competitive season for him ahead. He believes that the 2011 Formula 1 grid is filled with many strong contenders including, Felipe Massa and Michael Schumacher.
While talking to the media earlier today, the German stated, "I think neither of them has forgotten how to drive. Schumacher's history is too great to write him off, and Nico Rosberg has also showed us his strength."
The seven-time World Champion, Schumacher entered the series last year after an interval of three years. Although his return was much hyped and a great fanfare was created at the beginning of the season, he failed to live up to the expectations.
Similarly, the 2010 season unwrapped poorly for the Ferrari driver, Massa, who blamed the Bridgestone tyres for not suiting his driving style, just like Schumacher. Moreover, Ferrari’s ‘team order’ controversy at the German Grand Prix proved a big blow for
the Brazilian who was not seen among the forerunners again all through the season.
While talking about the sizzling 2011 grid, Vettel believes that both these drivers must never be taken easy. He believes that both of them possess great driving skills and are eager to prove their mettle once again, which makes them even more dangerous
than ever before.
The Red Bull driver further added, "(Fernando) Alonso for sure, and (Lewis) Hamilton is without question one of the best drivers."
Alonso, the two-time World Champion lost his third title to Vettel only at the last round of the season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, last year. With a very strong car this season, the Spaniard is ready to begin the battle once again from where he left, in
2010.
On the other hand, although the McLaren car does not seem very competitive at the moment, Lewis Hamilton is the last person anyone would write-off.
Since the Brit's arrival in Formula 1 (in 2007), he has never failed to impress his fans, or threaten his rivals, hence, a strong performance is expected from the 2008 World Champion once again this year.
