Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel believes the team is going improve further in 2012 – Formula 1 news
Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel believes that his team will be even stronger in 2012.
The 2011 world champion said that Red Bull will not take their win in the last two years for granted and continue to work even harder to perform better in the upcoming season.
Vettel helped his team win the constructors’ title back to back for the 2010 and 2011 seasons and some believe it is going to be another Bull dominated year in 2012.
Red Bull’s technical team came up with a unique front facing blown diffuser design which gave them an added advantage over other teams. Although other teams quickly tried to copy the design but none had results as good as Red Bull. McLaren was one team that
came close enough but could not match Red Bull.
“We will try (to win again),” Vettel told France's Auto Hebdo. “But the beauty of this sport is that before a new season, all the points’ counters are reset. It is up to Red Bull to build a competitive chassis and Renault to produce a powerful and reliable
engine. There is no certainty; nothing is sure about this (success) continuing.”
“All year long [we were] pushing to keep the car at the level that it was,” Vettel added. “McLaren were pushing massively and I think at the end we were pretty even. I don't think that one car really had the edge.”
Vettel believes that the team is working hard to match up and improve on its performance in 2011. He added that winning the championship was not as easy as portrayed. The German said that the team work diligently throughout the season to maintain the performance
of the car so that it can come out better with each race. The pressure of performing to their potential was always there. The team was always pushing hard for the pace and the wins and that is why it was on top.
It will be interesting to see how Red Bull cope up with the pressure of maintaining their winning ways through to the 2012 season, as other teams also gear up for an improved showing over the last season.
