Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel least bothered by who drives alongside him in 2012 – Formula 1 news
Red Bull’s Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel has stated that he would not care about who is driving alongside him in the Red Bull cockpit after the 2011 Formula 1 season concludes because he will always look to beat him.
The 2010 defending champion Vettel stated that he is happy with Red Bull although Ferrari and Mercedes bring with them huge myths.
Although Vettel’s teammate Mark Webber is looking into a contract with Red Bull team until 2012, still there are strong speculations that Lewis Hamilton might tie up with the Red Bull team.
After the Montreal GP where Hamilton crashed out, he had a lot of time to get back to the pits and he decided to visit the Red Bull camp instead. This provoked the media to state that maybe Hamilton will join the Red Bull team.
Although Christian Horner has clearly stated that Hamilton is not for the blue Red Bull car, Vettel stated that he will be happy with any co-driver.
“In the end I don't waste too many thoughts on who is my team mate, I want to be the best so I have to beat them all, with the same car or any other. I would never ask my team to get me a team-mate to my liking, but I expect two things from whoever has the
second cockpit: honesty and respect,” stated Vettel.
The German added that like Ferrari and Mercedes team, Red Bull also have all what it takes to be a legendary team. Vettel commented that he no longer thinks of the legendary team and is happy with the beverage company who are giving him the best car to drive.
Vettel concluded, “Of course Ferrari and Mercedes do come with a huge legend, but I am not into myth right now. After Abu Dhabi [2010 season] it feels good to know that I don't have anything to prove to myself anymore.”
For now, the seat alongside Vettel remains open for the 2012 season and it will be interesting to see who fills it up.
