Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel records fasted lap in first practice session at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
After a shocking Brazilian Grand Prix, Red Bull was able to secure the constructors’ title after scoring an outstanding 1-2. However, the drivers’ championship is still not over and it seems that Red Bull is not going to back down so easily.
With 4 competitors still running for the 2010 drivers’ title, Sebastian Vettel began the final race weekend of the season on a high. He scored the fastest lap of the first Friday practice session followed by the two McLaren drivers, Lewis Hamilton, and,
Jenson Button, in 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
As the practice session took place in wet conditions, it seems that the McLarens are performing better than the Ferraris in these conditions. It is expected that the teams will have to face wet conditions throughout the weekend. Mark Webber finished in 4th
place just 1 tenth of a second behind Jenson Button.
However, Fernando Alonso was unable to give a promising performance and it seems that Ferrari will head on to the second practice session with a lot on their minds. Ferrari needs to come up with a decent setup for the grand finale in order to win the title
as Fernando Alonso is currently leading the championship by 246 points.
With Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel right on his tail, Fernando Alonso cannot afford even an above average result at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He is aware that even if he is unable to finish in 3rd place on the podium, Sebastian Vettel will
obviously try his best to bring Mark Webber to the front in order to secure both titles for Red Bull.
Fernando Alonso was the 6th fastest driver behind Robert Kubica in 5th place. However, Michael Schumacher was able to score a better time than his teammate Nico Rosberg as Michael finished in 7th place. It was quite disappointing
to see that Rubens Barrichello retired out of the practice session. Felipe Massa had another disappointing session as he finished in 11th place and it seems that Alonso is going to have to finish this season on his own.
It is going to be a shocking race as rain is expected to hit the track during the race and after looking at the results of the first session, it is expected that McLaren will be able to take the upper hand during the second session.
