Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel says he is ‘pleased’ with his current team – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that he is happy with his current team, as they have provided him with the “best” car of the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season.
The team driver admitted that he is satisfied with the running of his RB7 car and that it has played a very supportive role for him to finish his good in the ongoing season.
The 23-year-old driver has been linked with the Ferrari team several times in the past, but Vettel added that Red Bull allowed him to use a perfect car as compared to Ferrari.
The German has won six rounds out of eight races in the season so far. He is currently leading the drivers’ championship with 77 points. Due to his wonderful performance in this season, Vettel is being tipped by many as favourite to win 2011 year’s title.
Vettel said, “Of course Ferrari and Mercedes do come with a huge legend, but I am not into myth right now. What's important for me is that when I come from the track and look in the mirror in my hotel room I want to be able to say, 'yes, that's me and I
am satisfied with what I see'.”
He discussed his 2010 season and added that his win in Abu Dhabi encouraged him a lot for 2011. In addition, he said he was sure at that moment that he will not need to prove anything more on the grid in the next season in terms of his performance.
Apart from that, Vettel talked about his teammate Mark Webber’s future with the team. He added that he is not much worried about him and that he must show his best for the team until the end of the season.
Vettel went on to say, “I want to be the best so I have to beat them all, with the same car or any other. I would never ask my team to get me a team-mate to my liking, but I expect two things from whoever has the second cockpit: honesty and respect.”
After winning the recently held European Grand Prix, Vettel is looking forward to achieve another goal at the upcoming British Grand Prix taking place on July 10, 2011.
