Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel scores 6th pole of 2011 season at Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
The reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel is at it again as he secured his 6th pole position of the 2011 Formula 1 season at the Canadian Grand Prix on Saturday.
This means that Red Bull Racing team is still unbeaten in qualifying so far in the season which is going to be quite frustrating for both Ferrari and McLaren since they were closer than they have ever been to beating the reigning world champions this season.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner stated that Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is one of the team’s “weakest tracks” but the current championship leader gave a perfect performance after picking the smoothest line on the track.
However, Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari is going to start alongside Vettel’s RB7 since the Spaniard was just 2 tenths of a second adrift of the young German’s fastest lap time.
Felipe Massa quite surprisingly is going to start from 3rd place on the grid alongside Mark Webber’s Red Bull. They will be followed by Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren and one has to admit that this weekend has been extremely disappointing for the team.
Nevertheless, Nico Rosberg and Jenson Button are going to start from 6th and 7th places on the grid respectively ahead of Mercedes’ Michael Schumacher. It is going to be interesting to see how Jenson Button manages to get away from
the two Mercedes drivers as they are going to be followed by Vitaly Petrov and Nick Heidfeld in 9th and 10th places respectively.
Other than that, it has been revealed that Sauber driver Sergio Perez is not going to take part in the Canadian Grand Prix due to some medical problems and he is going to be replaced by the McLaren’s test driver Pedro de la Rosa.
The upcoming race is going to be quite entertaining and dramatic at the same time and the race start is going to be very important for the first two rows of the grid since the driver who leads until the first turn will easily lead until the first pit stop.
