Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel wins 2011 Belgium Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel won the 2011 Belgium Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday, August 28, 2011.
All the teams participated in the Grand Prix after the successful Free Practice sessions and qualifying round. The drivers used the sets of soft and medium tyres by Pirelli throughout the race weekend and after struggling on these compounds, they posted
their best possible finish in the end.
Vettel kept his momentum of winning races in the 2011 Formula 1 season at the Belgium Grand Prix. He set the fastest time on the race results sheets after starting from the pole place on the opening grid.
The German was followed by his teammate Mark Webber, who finished his race at the second place with a gap of 3.7 seconds from Vettel.
After signing a contract with Red Bull for the 2012 F1 season, Webber impressed his team by taking podium position for them at Spa-Francorchamps.
McLaren’s Jenson Button was 9.6 seconds off the pace of Vettel in the final race classifications. He made a lot of struggle during the Belgium race after starting from the 13th position on the opening grid. The Brit impressed the
Belgium Grand Prix crowd by finishing his race on the last stair of the podium.
Fernando Alonso claimed the fourth place for Ferrari at the Spa circuit on Sunday. The Spaniard was leading during the race but, when McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton had a crash with Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi, he lost his lead due to safety car deployment and Red
Bulls overtook him easily.
Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher impressed the viewers and his team in the 2011 Belgium Grand Prix. After starting from the back of the field, he covered most of his positions in the initial stages of the race and after doing brilliantly in his MGP-W02,
he ended up at the fifth place.
His teammate Nico Rosberg also had a good raceday on Sunday, as he came at the sixth place in the final race classification after the fight with Schumacher and Force India’s Adrian Sutil in the closing laps.
Sutil put his team at the seventh place ahead of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, who ended up in the eighth spot in Belgium.
Sergio Perez, Daniel Ricciardo, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari were unable to be classified on the 2011 Belgium Grand Prix’s final results sheets.
