Red Cadeaux leading the line-up for the Diamond Jubilee Coronation Cup at Epsom
Epsom will host the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Coronation Cup (Sponsored By Investec) over a mile, four furlongs and ten yards on Saturday, 2nd June. The highly talented and versatile line-up comprises of six four-year and older runners. None of the entries
is racing for their seasonal debut and have already gelled in the new season.
They have not been extra ordinarily impressive ever since shooting into the new season but Red Cadeaux takes the bait as he has been relatively smarter than the rest of the entries lately.
Red Cadeaux’s one out of the wins during the past season was in the Group 3 At The Races Curragh Cup on 25th June over a mile and six furlongs. He won by an amazing lead of nine lengths and made Zerashan settle right next.
Riding the Ed Dunlop trained was Tom McLaughlin and coming at terms with the third position was Admiral Of The Red. The 11/8 favourite of the race, Nebula Storm, concluded the race in the end on the track of seven.
The last two races of Cadeaux Genereux’s six-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare, Artisia, added to the credentials. He missed the Group 1 Emirates Melbourne Cup by a mere nose’s difference on 1st November at Flemington over two miles.
The race was won by Dunaden while the 4/1 favourite, Americain, ended fourth on the track of twenty-three.
For a second time he lost a race that was won by Dunaden. Red Cadeaux ended third in the Group 1 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Vase on 11th December at Sha Tin over a mile and four furlongs.
His seasonal debut saw him scoring second in the Group 3 Blue Square Levy Board Sagaro Stakes on 2nd May at Kempton over two miles. The race was won by Colour Vision while the 5/2 favourite settled third.
Then the six-year-old finally struck the seasonal win on 18th May at York in the Group 2 Sportingbet Yorkshire Cup (British Champions Series) over a mile and six furlongs.
He led the runner up of the race, Glen’s Diamond, by a length while the 9/4 favourite, Harris Tweed, ended third.
Aiming a second stroke through the third outing of the season is the plan for the Ed Dunlop trained but he will need to look out for the winner of the Group 1 St Leger Stakes, Masked Marvel.
