Red Cadeaux rated favourite for Princess of Wales’s Goldsmiths Stakes
Red Cadeaux is expected to succeed in the Princess of Wales’s Goldsmiths Stakes (Group 2) at Newmarket in England on Thursday, July 12, 2012. The class-1 winner will get a cash prize of £61,899.
A total of nine quality runners will be up against each other in the 1 mile 4 furlong event, which will start at 15:00 GMT. Moreover, the ground will be good to soft, which will test the skills of a few participants.
However, Red Cadeaux will not have many issues with the track conditions and he will definitely get the attention of the punters today. He has been given a starting price of 5 to 2 by the bookies, as they expect him to lead the rest of the pack.
Overall, the six-year-old gelding has participated in 29 events, but does not have a good strike rate, winning just six of them. However, he has finished either runner up or third on a dozen occasions, which shows what he is capable of.
The Ed Dunlop’s trainee started his career in April 2009 and was unable to impress in his first couple of outings. However, he gave an improved performance in his third race at Ripon, where he was priced 12 to 1. He could have won that class-5 event, but
missed the opportunity narrowly.
He did not have to wait for long though, as he brought up his maiden victory in the very next race at Wolverhampton. He entered that event with a starting price of 9 to 2 and dominated the proceedings, winning by six lengths.
Cadeaux Genereux’s son went onto win one more race in his debut season and did a very good job next year as well. He had a few ups and downs in the 2011 season, but still managed to do well overall.
This year, Red Cadeaux has participated in just three races and his performances in them have been pretty decent. No one has been able to drop him out of the top three in the ongoing season and his team will be expecting him to continue delivering such results.
The seasoned runner finished third in his previous race under jockey, Tom McLaughlin, who will be partnering him today as well.
