Red Eared Slider Turtle legality in California?

I am moving to California soon and I have a red eared slider turtle. The turtle is about 7 years old. I am wanting to know about the legalities of this type of turtle in the state of California.

  1. they sell them all over here in Calif.

    Unfortunutely in Lil Saigon in Westminster, Cal and China town , LA they sell  the itty bitty ones the size of a 50 cent piece. And are illegal cause they are under the 4" size and give out salmonela

    But be real careful they sell sick ones ..watch out for any fuzz and cloudy eyes..

    Sliders are great for decorating ponds or large tanks. I have had two for 36 yrs now plus a 8 yr old and a 5 yr old..I got mine illegally 36 ys ago..

    they eat alot of fish and greens and have cost me $$$$$$ over the yrs...

    I have had them in a 150gal pond for about 6 yrs now..

  2. should be okay   we have them here in CA    they have to be at least 4 inches across.   you should be fine.
