Red Joker likely to win St Teresa´s Hospice Novice Auction Stakes
Red Joker has a great chance of winning the St Teresa´s Hospice Novice Auction Stakes at Catterick in England on Wednesday, July 18, 2012. He will have to overcome three other runners in order to claim the cash prize of £2,264 in the class-5 event.
The weather has once again played its part and the going will be soft because of the overnight rain. The spectators at Catterick will be hoping for better conditions today, so that they are not deprived of some quality action.
Speed will be crucial in the race, as the overall distance to cover is just 7 furlongs. The track conditions will not be a big concern for the runners, but the punters will have to be extremely careful while choosing their favourite.
There will be a stiff competition at the front and this will be good for the spectators. All the runners are young and inexperienced, which brings some uncertainty in the race as well. However, a couple of runners have proved to be extremely good in these
conditions, thus they will have a better chance of fighting at the front.
One of those runners is, Red Joker, who has only taken part in a couple of events, but his performances in them have been impressive. He is still learning and his team will not mind a victory for him today.
The two-year-old gelding made his debut in June this year and did an excellent job back then. He was given a general starting price of 6 to 1 back then and the ground was soft. He enjoyed the conditions and ended up runner up after a thrilling race against
Yorkshire Icon, who finished one place behind him in the end.
Despite a solid run in his first outing, the Alan Swinbank’s trainee was not rated as the favourite to win his next race. He was given a decent starting price though and was expected to battle at the front.
This was exactly what happened back then, as Red Joker displayed impressive speed, taking the top spot by three quarters. He was paired up with Paul Mulrennan in that event and the same jockey will be partnering him in the race at Catterick.
